College of Fellows Awards Three 2007 Emerging Professional Component Grants

The College of Fellows is pleased to announce that AIA Kansas City, AIA California Central Coast Chapter, and AIA Southwest Washington Chapter are the three recipients of the 2007 Component Emerging Professional Grants. Each chapter will receive $1,500 for their submissions. College of Fellows Executive Committee members Frank Lucas, FAIA; Carole Olshavsky, FAIA; Don Hackl, FAIA; Edward Kodet, FAIA; Young Architects Forum representative Sean Stadler, AIA; and Associate member representative Denise Thompson, Assoc. AIA, served as jurors.

The specific programs the chapters have planned are:

  • AIA Kansas City will present “Emerging Professionals: A Leadership Forum,“ to assist in increasing the number of registered architects in the chapter
  • AIA California Central Coast, a small, unstaffed chapter, will support those on the track to licensure by supplementing the costs associated with its Emerging Professionals Program
  • AIA Southwest Washington will focus on developing young architects for leadership roles in the architecture and professional community through its Emerging Leaders Program.

The jury was pleased with the quality of the submissions, as well as the quantity, which is up 30 percent over last year. For more about the College of Fellows, visit their Web site.
