NCARB Requests Architects’ Participation in Practice Analysis Survey
Results will inform updating of IDP program, ARE

Summary: Beginning April 9, AIA members and NCARB certificate holders may receive an e-mail invitation to participate in the online survey on practice analysis. The survey will take approximately 40 minutes to complete and can be saved and completed in multiple sessions. Respondents will be asked to rate a range of knowledge, skills, and abilities and provide commentary where appropriate. Participants will have until May 7 to complete the survey.

The 2007 Practice Analysis is NCARB’s systematic plan to collect data that reliably and accurately describe the knowledge and skills necessary to practice architecture independently while safeguarding the public health, safety, and welfare. The last study was published in 2001 and spurred the ongoing evolution of the Architect Registration Examination. Participation in this year’s survey is critical as the results will provide information for reviewing and updating the Intern Development Program (IDP) and the Architect Registration Examination (ARE).

Only registered architects may complete the survey and will need to provide proof of valid licensure in order to participate. Prometric, NCARB’s consultant, will administer the online survey. All responses collected will be kept confidential. It is anticipated that the results of the 2007 NCARB Practice Analysis will be distributed in early 2008.
