David J. Brotman, FAIA

The AIA’s celebration of its 150th Birthday also marks its rebirth. We are more exciting and energized than we have been in many years, and we are exhibiting the same enthusiasm that was surely present when those original 13 architects met in Richard Upjohn’s office on February 23, 1857, to form this organization.

With our new Strategic Plan, we have prioritized programs and are aggressively expanding our Advocacy, Community, and Knowledge agendas.

We are an AIA . . .

  • That’s a leader in creating a sustainable environment and making the world a better place to live
  • That is exploring Integrated Practice and investigating new business models with the aim to increase the architect’s value to clients and insure that the architect is central to the process
  • That is expanding and sharing Knowledge in order to advance the profession
  • That is expanding the role of our emerging professionals, recognizing the importance of their voice in molding our future
  • That understands that an aggressive communications program is vital to increasing member value and raising the stature of our profession in the public’s eyes.

These programs and more make the AIA the most important force in the future of our profession. I am committed to its ever-expanding role, and with your vote for vice president, we can work together to make this happen.
