Call for Applications: AIA eKnowledge Forms Editorial Content Review Board

Summary: eKnowledge, which is currently under development, will be the Web-based knowledge “resource of choice” for AIA members in the practice of architecture. A five-member editorial content review board will advise on and approve eKnowledge content. Review board members—an editor-in-chief and four subject experts— will be paid for serving in this capacity. Review board members will serve a two-year term, renewable twice; terms will begin January 1 of each year.


General

  • No relocation is required.
  • The review board will hold one kick-off meeting (lasting one to two days) at the AIA headquarters in Washington, D.C., prior to May 2007. This meeting will include training on eKnowledge, the content management system, and workflow process.
  • An annual meeting (lasting one to two days) of the board at the AIA headquarters in Washington, D.C., will occur thereafter.

Job duties

Editor-in-Chief (full-time position)

  • Leads the editorial content review board
  • Guides the vision and sets high standards for quality assurance and quality control to ensure the value of the resources
  • Develops the overall editorial plan for four main subject matter areas: Leadership, Practice, Design, Building Performance
  • Identifies and contacts subject matter experts
  • Works with the eKnowledge team to determine the schedule for content review and updates
  • Manages the recommendations of the subject matter experts and the communication with contributors and the eKnowledge team members
  • Plans and chairs review board meetings
  • Contributes original content to eKnowledge (e.g., a column or white paper)
  • Presents eKnowledge content (e.g., at AIA national conventions).

Subject Matter Experts (Leadership, Practice, Design, Building Performance) (50 percent time commitment)

  • Identifies, recommends, reviews, and evaluates content in the given subject area that will be accessible through eKnowledge
  • Contributes original content to eKnowledge (e.g., a column or white paper)
  • Presents eKnowledge content (e.g., at AIA national conventions)
  • Provides comments and suggestions with respect to the quality, quantity, and timeliness of the content
  • Helps to ensure that the content submitted by contributors is appropriate, accurate, and understandable
  • Communicates with eKnowledge team members to clarify comments and recommendations, when necessary
  • Participates in regular review board meetings.
