Historic Preservation in Professional Architecture Education: An International
Dialogue
Bath, England
September 12–14
The AIA Historic Resources Committee will hold a symposium on the state
of historic preservation architecture education internationally, featuring
sessions held in the historic Bath Assembly Rooms and on the campus of
the University of Bath as well as tours of historic sites in Bath, a
UNESCO World Heritage city, and environs.
Prague: 20th-Century Architecture in Transition

The AIA Committee on Design conference will explore Prague’s buildings,
sites, and the city itself in relationship to the political, social,
cultural, and economic transitions and the permanence of the historical,
climatic, and geographic environment.
Communities on the Line: Transit and the Design of 21st Century Communities
Washington, D.C.
October 7–9
The AIA Regional and Urban Design Committee, the AIA Housing and Residential
Design Committee, and the AIA Center for Communities by Design will cohost
this conference to reinforce the need for excellent design when planning
transit-oriented development. The agenda will include a selection of
tours that illustrate the history and state-of-the-art practice for transit-oriented
development and the role of transit in community building.
