Design and Donate a “Face in the Wild” to Benefit the WWF

Humanscale, the ergonomic office products manufacturer, is holding its sixth annual competition/auction this fall. By designing and donating an animal face design for this event, you will help raise money for the World Wildlife Fund, a leading environmental organization dedicated to protecting the diversity of life. Last year’s event brought more than 350 attendees and earned more than $25,000 for WWF, including a matching donation by Humanscale.

Designers may submit artwork of any type (mask, sculpture, painting, drawing, photograph, woven design, etc.). All entries must be tangible; easily transportable; made from environmentally friendly, nonperishable materials; and representative of the face of a nondomesticated animal.

All artwork submissions will be offered in an auction at the Humanscale showroom in New York City in early October 2005. A select number of pieces will also be included in an online “preview” auction prior to the event. All funds collected will be matched by Humanscale and donated directly to WWF. In addition to the auction, all entries will be judged by a distinguished panel representing a wide range of design disciplines. Winners will be selected in each of the following categories:

  • Best use of environmental materials
  • Best representation of the essence of the animal (personality, presence, look)
  • Best overall design.

The top vote-getters in each category will receive Humanscale’s award-winning Liberty chair, designed by Niels Diffrient. Winners will be announced prior to the auction. To allow for greater participation and exposure, “Faces in the Wild” for the first time also will be a live auction on the Humanscale Web site.
