Robert
I. Selby, FAIA
Nothing is more important to the AIA than assuring that the future of
our profession is in capable hands. For the last two years on the AIA
national Board of Directors, I’ve helped write AIA policies for
architecture education and programs for emerging professionals. Now,
I’m running for Institute vice president to continue to:
• Advocate for a culture of respect and nurturing for students
in academic studios and interns in professional offices
• Promote greater diversity in architecture schools so we can achieve
greater diversity in the AIA
• Improve IDP and mentoring for emerging professionals.
I’ve been an AIA member for 35 years. My leadership experience
in the AIA includes:
• President of a section, a chapter, and a large state council—I
comprehend and appreciate the One AIA at all component levels
• Two-plus years on the national Board of Directors—I can provide
continuity of leadership on the Executive Committee.
I have more than a dozen years of experience as a principal in my own
architecture practice, and 20 years as an educator and administrator.
I know the whole profession—from education to internship and practice.
I’m well qualified to serve all of our constituents.
I’m a good team player, listener, and communicator and an effective
implementer of good ideas, whether mine or others’.
I offer you my experience and passion.
I’m Robert I. Selby, FAIA, and I ask you and thank you for your
support.
