CSI’s Convention Programs Highlight MasterFormat 2004, National CAD Standard

The Construction Specifications Institute, developer of MasterFormat™, announces the 49th Annual CSI Show™ & Convention, April 20–23, at Chicago’s McCormick Place. A total of 132 continuing education programs—covering all phases of facility life cycle—will help commercial construction professionals streamline delivery of projects. Three pre-convention workshops on April 19 kick off the professional development programs:

  • A workshop on the newly released version 3.1 of the U.S. National CAD Standard, co-developed by the AIA, CSI, and the National Institute of Building Sciences. It is a standard for organizing and presenting CAD drawings to aid communication of graphic information among everyone involved in building project delivery. The new version’s structure is aligned with the 2004 edition of MasterFormat.
  • The MasterSpec® Academy, conducted by master specifications systems provider ARCOM, will focus on SPECWARE® and MASTERWORKS™.
  • A program to train people as accredited instructors of the recently released MasterFormat 2004 Edition, the much-expanded new version of the predominant U.S.-Canadian standard for organizing project information and specifications.

The New World of MasterFormat
The convention highlights the publication of the newly revised and expanded MasterFormat 2004 Edition. In addition to the April 19 MasterFormat Accredited Instructor Program, the opening general session will feature a panel of prominent industry figures from various design and construction disciplines discussing their specific MasterFormat implementation issues. Saturday’s education sessions will address the new edition’s application guide and keynoting with the new version. Paid registrants attending the convention’s education program receive on-site a free copy of MasterFormat 2004 Edition (a $159 value).

For more information or to register, visit the CSI Show™ & Convention Web site, or call 800-689-2900. The registration fees are $195 for CSI members and $250 for nonmembers.
