Latest Innovations? McGraw-Hill Construction, AIA Invite You to Explore
Join this year’s conference November 16 in New York City

McGraw-Hill Construction, in association with the AIA, invites you to attend the 2004 Architectural Record Innovation Conference. Designed to increase understanding of the latest technologies, processes, and materials that are changing other industries and can be applied to the architecture/construction field, this event will bring leaders of architecture and construction together with materials scientists, experts from aerospace and automobile manufacturing, inventors, venture capitalists, and economists.

This year’s conference centers on tall buildings. Because they present so many challenges and often are well financed, tall buildings frequently inspire research and development and serve as proving grounds for new structural, mechanical, electrical, and safety breakthroughs. The conference offers a unique opportunity for networking and discussion about the innovative aspects of three tall buildings in various stages of completion:

  • Helmut Jahn, FAIA, will speak about the Deutsche Post Building in Bonn, Germany
  • Bruce Fowle, FAIA, Fox & Fowle, will present the New York Times Tower in New York City (Renzo Piano, Hon. FAIA, has been invited to join him.)
  • David Childs, FAIA, Skidmore Owings & Merrill, will discuss Freedom Tower in New York City.

Attendees also will hear from Ron Klemencic, chair of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, as he leads panelists in discussing how innovative technologies developed for tall buildings influence all kinds of architecture. And this year’s keynote speaker will be David Gottfried, president of WorldBuild and founder of the U.S. Green Building Council and World Green Building Council. The USGBC is the main green building organization in the U.S., with nearly 2,500 organizational members from all sectors of the building industry.

The conference offers six AIA/CES LU hours of health, safety, and welfare credit. Register today to guarantee your seat at this premier industry event. For more information or to register, visit the McGraw-Hill Web site, call 212-904-4634, or e-mail chuck_pinyan@mcgraw-hill.com.
