Executive Architects to Discuss Business Trends at McGraw-Hill’s Outlook Conference

Architects now have another compelling reason to take part in McGraw-Hill Construction’s 66th annual Outlook Executive Conference October 27–28 in Washington, D.C. Robert A. Ivy, FAIA, editor-in-chief of Architectural Record, will lead a discussion in “Trends in Architecture and Architectural Firms,” with Hugh Hardy, FAIA, principal, H3 Hardy Collaboration; Paul Jacobs III, AIA, chair, RTKL Associates, Inc.; and Carl Roehling, FAIA, president and CEO, SmithGroup.

McGraw-Hill Construction invites AIA architects to the conference, which brings together executives—from design and contracting firms, industry associations, and major building product manufacturing firms—who are interested in getting the vital information they need to solve real business challenges.

Joining Ivy and the panel of architects is AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker, PhD, Hon. AIA, who will discuss construction trends from the architect’s perspective. Robert Murray, vice president of economic affairs for McGraw-Hill Construction, will present his 2005 Construction Outlook, which has become a mainstay of business planning for construction and manufacturing industry executives. David Wyss, chief economist for Standard & Poor’s, will provide additional insight into U.S. and global economic trends that will affect the construction industry in 2005. And special guest Mark Shields, syndicated columnist and moderator for CNN’s The Capital Gang, will share firsthand accounts and impressions of the current state of Washington politics.
