AIA Risk Management Committee Offers Free Construction Bonds and Insurance eClassroom Program

The Risk Management Committee has produced “An Architect’s Guide to Construction Bonds and Insurance,” an AIA eClassroom distance learning program that you can view online, anytime and anyplace, without charge to AIA members.

Participants can learn more about the bonds and insurance coverages typically used on construction projects and how they are intended to protect the client and the contractor from unexpected losses. Specifically, the course covers:

  • When bonds are used
  • The types of bonds available
  • The differences between performance and payment bonds
  • Why bid bonds are used
  • The differences between property and liability insurance
  • When builder’s risk insurance is used.

Howard G. Goldberg, Esq., Hon. AIA, principal, Goldberg, Pike Besche PC, teaches the course, which offers one AIA/CES learning unit.
