AIA New York Chapter to Present Design Awards Symposium September 22

The 2003 Design Awards Symposium will take place on September 22, 6:30 p.m., at the new Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo Associates-designed Kimmel Center on Washington Square South in Lower Manhattan. The program will offer a moderated discussion that presents and honors the finest examples of architecture, interiors, and unbuilt projects submitted by local firms and design individuals. A public reception will follow the discussion.

Kurt Andersen, host of “Studio 360” on National Public Radio, will serve as the program’s moderator. The 2003 jury consists of nationally and internationally recognized architects, educators, and designers, including:

  • Architecture: Rodolfo Machado, Boston; Sarah Graham, Los Angeles; and Javier Barba, Barcelona.
  • Interiors: Antonio Citterio, Milan; Adrien Luchini, St. Louis; and Merrill Elam, FAIA, Atlanta.
  • Projects: Adele Santos, Berkeley Calif.; Winy Maas, Netherlands; and Jordan Williams, Atlanta.

Mark your calendar to attend the symposium and take the opportunity to meet the jurors at the reception following. Tickets are available at the door: $10 for students and AIA members, $15 for the general public. No advance reservations are necessary, but seating is limited.
