03/2003 Expo2003 Offers Something for Everyone in San Diego
 

AIA Expo2003, the exhibition element of the AIA national convention, May 8–10 in San Diego, will showcase more than 600 companies and over 140,000 square feet of new products, technology innovations, and services of interest to the entire building community. The expo counts among its special attractions the New Product and Technology Center sponsored by Building Design & Construction magazine, which displays 50 new building, design, and construction products and services. Also highlighted this year are six Product Pavilions:
Horton Plaza photo by Stephen SimpsonThe High Tech Pavilion will feature progressive companies that put technology to work with the latest design, drafting, engineering, and construction-management software.
The Restoration Products Pavilion, sponsored by Traditional Buildings magazine, will offer a one-stop shop for preservation projects and the products that retain historic character and provide new functional elements and contemporary design character.
The Green Products Pavilion, sponsored by Environmental Design & Construction magazine, will promote sustainable design and energy-efficient products and services that meet client needs, conserve resources, and respect the environment.
The Stone and Tile Pavilion, sponsored by Stone World and Contemporary Stone & Tile Design magazines, will let you explore new shapes, textures, and design flexibility from river rock to granite to decorative tile.
The Fabric Architecture Pavilion, sponsored by Fabric Architecture magazine, will lead you through innovative balustrade systems, tensile fabrics, cable mesh, and architectural sheet metal.
The Lighting Pavilion will take a fresh look at architecture, illumination, and fixtures from wall sconces to chandeliers, as well as site lighting via bollards, path lights, and security lighting.

World  Famous San Diego ZooAdmission to AIA Expo2003 is free and open to all, from Thursday, May 8 at 10 a.m., through Saturday, May 10 at 3 p.m. Make sure you’re there for the Opening Night Party on Thursday, 4:30–6 p.m., for a free, fun-filled gala celebrating sunny San Diego, with Southern-California-style entertainment, music, and cuisine.
