April is the Coolest Month—At Least for Architecture in Dallas

April as Architecture Month has been a tradition for Dallas architects since the city's mayor first proclaimed it in 1999, in honor of the AIA's national convention in the Big D. Photo by Darrell Lewis, Assoc. AIA

April is Architecture Month in Dallas, marking the third year this event has been sponsored by AIA Dallas, Preservation Dallas, Dallas Architectural Foundation, and Dallas Architecture Forum. The organizations meld their different focuses once a year to promote celebration of the built environment to the community at large.

A number of tours of the city highlight Dallas' Architecture month. April was proclaimed Architecture Month by the mayor of Dallas in 1999 in honor of the city's hosting of the AIA national convention that year. Every year after, the city renews that proclamation.
