The Institute secretary plays an important role in preparing the Board of Directors for making informed decisions on your behalf. Having just completed my term on the Board as a regional director, I understand the impact that proper preparation, effective communication, and strong leadership can have on the Board's ability to achieve the members' goals and advance the objectives of the AIM initiative. I will apply my past experience on the national membership committees to assist in clarifying the issues so that the Board is better prepared to govern. I will bring my experience on the TIMSS Task Force to bear and enlarge the circle of communication to include CACE and other knowledgeable members so that directors are fully informed as they work to advance our national objectives.

Leadership by definition is the ability to guide, direct, and influence others to achieve a vision. My vision of the AIA is an organization that is diverse in its structure, progressive in its thinking, and confident in its direction-a vision that is obtainable with strong and effective leadership.
