New Federal Form Proposed to Replace 254/255
December 8 deadline for comments

The AIA Government Affairs team is collecting comments from AIA members on the federal government's proposed rule change for the selection of architect and engineer contractors, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Case 2000-608.

The General Services Administration, Department of Defense, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration have proposed replacing standard forms SF 254/255 with a new streamlined version, SF 330. The proposed changes include the solicitation of more relevant information, restriction of submission length, and the formatting of information to facilitate electronic storage. SF 330 is intended to streamline the process for awarding contracts while increasing the accountability of firms and individual architects performing the design work.

The AIA Board convened a task force to consider the rule change and submit comments to the government. Members are encouraged to review SF 330 and send their comments to the Government Affairs staff by December 8, 2001. If you are interested in reviewing the rule change, read the PDF file linked in the reference box to the right of this screen. Use the Microsoft Word® form in the reference box, to email or fax comments to Scott Young, syoung@aia.org or 202-626-7583.
