Help the Institute Serve You Better
Answer this week's two poll questions

To better serve its members, the AIA is asking for your input on two issues this week. First, in response to a survey on security design in which members said that guidelines and case studies would be the most helpful tools, the AIA is creating a small primer for architects to hand out to their clients. How many would you order for your clients? Second, do you want your AIArchitect in HTML or plain text?

Two minutes, two clicks.

Better service.

This Month's Questions

1. Building Security Through Design: An AIA Resource Center Question of the Week

In response to results from a previous member survey, the AIA is creating a small primer on security design for architects to hand out to their clients. The booklet is intended to help AIA members get a quick grasp of building security as it relates to architectural practice across the entire building life cycle. It will be available by the end of November.

When the primer is available through your state/local component at a nominal price, how many copies would you consider purchasing to hand out to your clients?
None
1–50
50–100
100–250
250–500
More than 500.

2. To HTML or Not to HTML—You Decide the Question

As an experiment, AIArchitect staff formatted the October 22–26 This Week email in HTML last week. We found anecdotally that some people liked it and some didn't; also that there are email servers out there that don't support HTML. In case you don't recall, click here to see how it looked.

Moreover, in a totally unconnected coincidence, the AIA Web server slowed to a near standstill on a number of occasions after the email went out (likely the result of the server's firewall). The result was that the email couldn't connect to the AIArchitect Web site to display the graphics. If you opened the email last week and got a blank screen instead of a message—especially Friday the 19th and Monday the 22nd—it was almost certainly because of the Web-server glitch. That said, here is our question to you (you can only give one answer; send comments via the Tell the Author button at the bottom of this screen.)

What do you think of AIArchitect This Week in HTML format?
I like it—a lot
I like it
I don't like it
I don't like it—a lot
Either way, it is of no consequence to me
My email server doesn't read graphic or HTML files
I don't remember seeing it
I received it, but it didn't open for me.
