AIA-member-related Information and Resources on the Tragedy

The following is a list of resources related to the disasters in New York; Washington, D.C.; and Pennsylvania.

Information and toll-free phone numbers for AIA members or their families who need to report claims related to the September 11 attacks to their AIA Trust insurance carriers.

AIA New York Chapter Web site offers frequent updates on the status of AIA members and firms located in lower Manhattan. The Web site also contains information about relief efforts and services needed.

The AIA communications staff has compiled a list of expert sources on the World Trade Center and Pentagon disasters. The directory lists key AIA experts on design and construction as they relate to building security, high-rise design, building codes, disaster recovery, and what might be considered for the disaster sites in the future.

Architects are instrumental during all phases of disaster recovery, from initial inspection to reconstruction. Find out more by reading the Basic Disaster Recovery Guidelines from the AIA Disaster Press Kit available through the MyAIA portal. Search for "Basic Disaster Recovery Guidelines."

Architectural Record offers a collection of stories and links to information about the World Trade Center, including an eyewitness account of the attack by the publication's Editor in Chief Robert Ivy, FAIA. The site also features statistics about the World Trade Center.

Engineering News Record offers information about how the World Trade Center Towers were constructed and how they collapsed. It also details the work the engineering and construction industry is doing to assess the damage and help recovery and relief efforts.

Construction.com and the McGraw-Hill Construction Information Group is providing current news and reports as well as information resources, cancellation notices, and ways you can help. Updates will occur daily, as needed.

The AIA Web site also carries links to a broad range of articles from the U.S. media and the world press.
