Dupont Benedictus Awards Issues 10th International Call for Entries
Entries are due March 1, 2002

The international architecture community is issuing a call for entries for the 2002 DuPont Benedictus Awards®, which recognize the innovative use of architectural laminated glass.

The global competition—a collaborative effort between DuPont and the AIA, with worldwide support of the International Union of Architects—is named for Edouard Bénédictus, a French artist and chemist who discovered the process for laminating glass.

Firms or individual architects must submit entries of completed projects on or before March 1, 2002. The winning entries will be announced at the 2002 AIA Convention in Charlotte in May, published in a summary book, and featured on the competition's Web site.

The following distinguished architects will act as jurors:
• Kisho Kurokawa, FAIA, FRIBA, president Kisho Kurokawa Architects and Associates, Tokyo
• Arthur Cotton Moore, FAIA, Arthur Cotton Moore Associates, PC; Washington, D.C.
• Professor Dr. Werner Sobek, president Werner Sobek Ingenieure, Stuttgart, Germany.

The competition will award one grand prize to a project that displays the most innovative and outstanding use of laminated glass. All entries will be considered for the grand prize, and each will be considered for special recognition in individual categories, such as commercial, community, education, government, health-care, recreation, and residential. (A separate competition for architectural students will be announced this fall.)
