COF Elects Damianos 2002 Vice Chancellor; Leis, Secretary

At their annual business luncheon during the AIA convention in May, members of the AIA College of Fellows unanimously elected Sylvester Damianos, FAIA, as vice chancellor for a term of one-year and Lawrence J. Leis, FAIA, as secretary for a term of two years. The terms of office begin in December 2001.

Damianos is president of Damianos + Anthony, a multidiscipline architecture firm in Pittsburgh. He was elevated to the College of Fellows in 1982 and was elected to the COF Executive Committee as secretary in 1999. Among his many honors, Damianos received the AIA Edward C. Kemper Award in 1996. Long active in the AIA, Damianos served as national president in 1990. Additionally, he has been honored with a lifetime membership on the Board of the American Architectural Foundation.

Leis is a principal of Louis & Henry, Louisville, a firm specializing in major municipal, academic, and corporate projects. He was elevated to the College of Fellows in 1990 and has served on the AIA national Board as treasurer. Leis received the AIA National Design Award and the Kentucky Society of Architects' Oberwarth Award Distinguished Service Award, the chapter's "Gold Medal." For many years, Leis has been active in the Kentucky Society of Architects as well as various local civic organizations.
