RAIC Honors AIA President Anderson

The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada College of Fellows conferred honorary fellowship on AIA President John D. Anderson, FAIA, May 31. The convocation was part of the RAIC National Festival of Architecture in Halifax, Nova Scotia, May 30 to June 2.

Presenting Anderson with his fellowship medal were Essy Baniassad, FRAIC, chancellor of the RAIC College of Fellows and RAIC President David Simpson, FRAIC. The ceremony was at All Saints Cathedral in Halifax.

The theme for the RAIC festival was "Legacy . . . With Attitude," looking at how Canada's architects should work with the past and what they should be passing on to future generations. One similarity to the AIA's 2001 convention theme, "Fostering Partnerships to Create Community," was the RAIC's call for an architectural attitude toward the future to create a clear and dynamic position on the design of buildings and cities.
