Convention—Elections
Gatsch, Hopkins, Kodet Named VPs

James A. Gatsch, AIA; Eugene Hopkins, FAIA; and Edward J. Kodet Jr, FAIA, will serve as AIA vice presidents in 2002. At the May 17 general session, a call for nominations for vice presidential candidates went unanswered; nominations therefore were closed, and the three unopposed candidates were declared winners.

James Gatsch, AIA, balances the management of his 50-person firm, Ford Farewell Mill and Gatsch Architects, Princeton, N.J., with mentoring young professionals and involvement in his community. Currently the New Jersey regional director, Gatsch also has served as cochair of the IDP Coordinating Committee and as a member of the AIA National Finance Committee.

Eugene Hopkins, FAIA, Michigan regional director, currently serves as PIA Executive Committee chair and has been active on the national Historic Resources Committee as well as in his local chapter, AIA Huron Valley, and AIA Michigan, where he served as president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.

Hopkins' career ranges from founding principal of Architects Four Inc., a small firm specializing in historic preservation, to his current position as partner with the SmithGroup, a national, multidiscipline firm with which Architects Four merged in 1999.

Edward Kodet, FAIA, is founder of Kodet Architectural Group Ltd., a 20-person Minneapolis firm. In addition to his current position as North Central States regional director, Kodet has served as regent of the American Architectural Foundation, chair of the Gold Medal and Firm Advisory Jury, and regional director of the Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art, and Architecture. He also held the office of president of AIA Minnesota and AIA Minneapolis.
