2001 Fun Run: "Run Your AIA Off"
by Jennifer Russell

It was a beautiful morning in City Park as more than 100 runners and walkers—including three stroller entries—gathered at 8 a.m. for the 2001 AIA 5K Fun Run.

Each runner "ran his or her AIA off" under the blue Denver sky. For many, it was the first time running a mile-high up, that is. For others, it "had been a while." The race group was an eclectic mixture of participants from all over the country, and Jim Leggitt, AIA, RNL Design, Denver, told us that "some runners do the event every year."

Jim Buckner, AIA, of Vail, Colo., managed to come in first as a small group of organizers and fans cheered all of the runners on. A water and give-away table just past the finish line refreshed the grinning group and rewarded each individual with a t-shirt upon completion of the course.
