40,000 AIA Members Brought into MyAIA Portal Launch

In a demonstration of its newly acquired computer-aided capabilities, the AIA national component combined the reach of the new membership database system with the depth of MyAIA-the just-launched portal site of profession and construction-industry updates and tools for members only-to inform a broad swath of members directly and simultaneously. Through an interactive message sent the first week of March to all 40,000 members who have provided their email addresses, the national AIA component achieved the most rapid rollout yet of a new member service.

The MyAIA portal allows each member to personalize his or her home page to bring in details on the latest developments in the profession, the financial world, and the technological frontier; search on the Web and AIA files for reference or archival material; provide Web-based services; and more. Its March 1, 2001, launch followed months of research and development. Moreover, with dedicated support provided through the AIA Knowledge Center, the site will continue to develop to accommodate AIA-member requirements and preferences.

Members log on to the system through www.aia.org by entering the For the AIA Member page. The screen that comes up will ask for your new AIA member number and your password. For initial logon, use your last name, without spaces and all in lowercase, as your password. Once you're into the system, read the tutorial information on the left side of the screen for directions on how to personalize and navigate through your MyAIA portal.

"Enjoyed the E-mail and have added our firm to the mailing list," David R. Falknor, AIA, responded to the portal-launch message. "Very easy and accessible to the various sections you offer."

Find your AIA/CES transcript
As a timely example of the convenience of MyAIA, take a look at your AIA Continuing Education System transcripts through the Continuing Education Transcript Search tool. Through this box, which you will find on the left side of your MyPage screen, you can request a copy of your AIA/CES transcript, search advertised provider programs, and submit a self-report form online.
