Patriots Peace Memorial Competition Opens

Jefferson County, Ky., has announced a competition to design a memorial to persons who have given their lives in the line of duty for the U.S. at times other than during declared hostile action. They are asking for submissions that evoke strong emotional response, deep sense of contemplation, and respectful mood of remembrance. The one-acre site is near the banks of the Ohio River, adjacent to a city park 3-1/2 miles east of downtown Louisville. Anyone is welcome to enter, either individually or as a multidisciplinary team.

Registration closes May 11, entries are due May 17, and the winner will be announced Memorial Day, May 28.

First prize is $4,000 and the right to negotiate for a commission to realize the project.
