New York's AIA Architects Gear Up to Offer Disaster Assistance

On the heels of the disastrous September 11 terrorist bombing of the World Trade Center's twin tower, AIA architects from across the state mobilized to provide assistance to their fellow citizens. Following is the text of a letter sent September 12 from AIA New York State's President Jean G. Miele, AIA.

Dear Governor Pataki,

This letter is to advise you that the AIA Disaster Response Corp. is prepared to provide the State of New York with Licensed Registered Architects qualified to assist New York State and New York City Officials with the Damage assessment phase of the recovery from the World Trade Center disaster.

AIA New York State is now polling their membership of more than 5,000 architects for qualified volunteers.

At the present time I would estimate that by Friday September 14, I will have an updated list of 100 architects that I can forward to you , SEMO, FEMA, and/or the Corps of Engineers as you direct.
